Hi. Michal here. Julius Ceasar gave Rome calendar reform because Romans were abusing the calendar. He used it as an opportunity to make the calendar better. His calendar reform made the Roman calendar more accurate. Pope Gregory gave western Christianity calendar reform because Julius Ceasar's calendar reform wasn't accurate enough. The seasons were drifting. The pope used calendar reform as an opportunity to try to reconcile the eastern and western churches. He failed. In doing so, he left humanity with flawed calendar reform. He left humanity with a chance to make things better. We can do better than 97 leap years every 400 years. With calendar reform, we can have 8 leap years every 33 years. It's calendar reform that's easy to understand. After 32 regular years, there's a special year that we can call Jubilee. With calendar reform, we can make it useful. We can call those 33 years a single generation. With calendar reform, we can use the idea of a new generation to refocus our energy as humanity every 33 years.
The seven day week is great. Having 52 weeks a year is great. The problem is that 52 times 7 is 364 and there are on average 365 and a quarter days every year. With our current system, the dates cycle through the days of the week. We need a new calendar every year. Why not have a perpetual solar calendar? With calendar reform, we can remove 1 and a quarter days from the 52-week calendar. With calendar reform, we can have intercalary days that don't have a number or a day of the week associated with them. With calendar reform we can make those days special. We can use them to refocus our energy. With calendar reform, we can call the annual intercalary day World Peace Day. With calendar reform, we can make the goal of world peace special. With calendar reform, we can call the quadrennial intercalary day Love Your Neighbor Day. With calendar reform we can make brotherly love special. With calendar reform, we can do more. We can make the whole week special. We can identify the days of the week with our values as a global society instead of with planets or with ancient and useless gods. With calendar reform we can support a universal holiday for every working mother and every working man and every independent business owner in the world. With calendar reform we can start to build a better world.
