Michal spends his time designing calendar wallpaper - can he explain himself?

I'm not crazy. I'm giving away calendar wallpaper to encourage people to think critically about how they're spending their time. I don't want them to waste it. I don't want them to live in chaos, whether that chaos is physical, mental or emotional. I wanted a better today and I gave it to myself by changing the way I count my days.
A calendar is a unique form of art. How we measure and organize time guides our society.
Consider the fact that the Gregorian Calendar cycles through 28 different configurations of a month - so that the relationship between a date and a day of the week is constantly changing. That's the way Pope Gregory decided to do it - even though in his day there were people who knew it could be simpler than that. I choose to use a perpetual solar calendar - a calendar that doesn't change its structure every year - a calendar you can memorize like the hours of a clock. It's just simpler and more logical to me.
I didn't make up this calendar. It's been suggested and proposed and considered over and over again through the centuries. An American woman almost convinced the United Nations to adopt it as a global civil calendar. Her idea was ultimately rejected based on the objections of a very vocal religious minority because it broke the cycle of the days of the week - that is, it used intercalary days that would fall, for example, between a Saturday and a Sunday. Some people thought that would either anger God or just screw up the schedules of Orthodox worshippers - neither of which scares me.
You may not be prepared to adopt a different calendar as long as everybody around you is still using the one Pope Gregory reformed back in the 16th century. That's okay.
I'm offering you free calendar wallpaper so you can think about how important the calendar is as an art-form, not just as a way of counting the days but as a way of organizing our culture and giving our society a direction.
If you think society is heading in the wrong direction and needs a little help, you can try to celebrate Love Your Neighbor Day as I have done - by placing it between Saturday and Sunday - and seeing how you feel. You might feel power and freedom from having broken the cycle of Monday to Friday, Saturday, Sunday. I did. It empowered me and gave me a sense of peace that continues to fuel me to this day. Maybe it can fuel you too.

Strength and dignity are her clothing...
Proverbs 31:25
Author's Note: I have been enjoined from sharing the details of my true romance adventure until such time that the other party is prepared to present her perspective on the affair arrangement...
Four days after I arrived in Poland, the largely Catholic country was celebrating Corpus Christi, complete with solemn processions down the street. Three days later I had made a solemn vow that if given the chance to express it, I would show love to a woman I had only just met.
As an artist inspired by a young woman's struggle with self-esteem and bulimia, body acceptance had always featured prominently in my aesthetic. Having recently discovered naturism and its mantra of body acceptance in the United States, I was eager to explore the style and philosophy of naturist clubs and the beauty of naturist campsites in Europe. By a trick of fate, I found myself first in Bielsko-Biała, Poland. Margo's home.
From America I brought with me the American can-do spirit. She saw the car that I had bought, the terrible camp stove I had borrowed, and my sundry canned goods and challenged me to make-do. In my optimism I assured her that if we lacked for anything I would make up the difference. She assured me that if she lacked for anything she would find her way to the nearest airport and fly home. Luckily that never happened.
I've never been married. I've never been divorced. I've never had kids. I've never lost my kids. That doesn't mean I can't try to understand somebody who has. By listening to Margo during our trip across Europe I started to consider her needs as if they were my own. I may not have been in a position to satisfy all of those needs, but I was able to shut up and put my own needs aside if I had to for at least 6,000 miles. We all need to be listened to and it is the one need that we all have a duty to satisfy. When somebody prays to another human, as a human you have a duty to listen. Humanity needs to start teaching itself that skill.
6,000 miles across Europe with a complete stranger
During our trip across Europe, Margo very bravely opened up to me and to the camera. It was a difficult thing to do considering the scars that she carries. I wanted to share with the world her often joyful, often sad, often angry but always liberating experience except that the Internet is full of pictures of naked women and men and full of trolls who abuse them.
I realized that what I really need to point out is not the openness that Margo and I cultivated between ourselves, but the darkness that continues to surround us. When I censor nudity, I do so in a way that does not compromise the integrity of the human body. In censoring the photographs that Margo and I took during our trip, I was quick to notice that in those pictures where Margo was at her most open, at her most unguarded and most relaxed, in a word, when she was herself and basking in the sun I was forced to blacken her completely.
Why does our society drive people into darkness? Why can we not accept ourselves as we are? Why can we not accept our bodies? Have we truly become eunuchs? Or are we capable of defying the sickness that pits us against each other? Together we could conquer the devils that abuse us.
Whether you enjoy being nude or not, whether you've been photographed nude or not, but especially if, for you, like for Margo, it's something you never thought you would do, consider submitting your own photograph to be published in a censored manner as a form of protest against the ubiquitous presence of the human body on the internet, naked or not, that is published and duplicated ad infinitum without context and without regard for the identity or the needs of the individual being depicted.
Michal's Dictionary: Print Calendar
The great thing about Acceptance calendar reform is the fact that I will never have to throw out another print calendar again.
But until the world has adopted this beautiful reform, and incorporated the idea of peace and love into the way we measure time, we will continue to throw out print calendars.
Therefore, in order to promote reform among those still enslaved by the legacy of Rome, I would have to make a new print calendar every year just to keep up with the absurd Gregorian system that I've already left behind.
I make this print calendar for you.

Michal's Fiction Corpus of Acceptance Literature (FiCAL) is presented under the Bare Bottom imprint. It is currently comprised of six bodies of work, each representing a different pillar of culture and incorporating a wide variety of writhing styles.
A story bible for a comic book series set in a post climate-change California narrated by eight characters who live through a natural disaster that sinks Los Angeles and triggers a war with an expansionist Mexican government covertly supported by China.

expedia called. like i thought. chase comes to the office and leaves as soon as he hears im looking for him. he assumes i want to talk money.
An experimental science fiction Christology that makes Jesus the hard boiled narrator of his own early years on a bizarro earth made dark by volcanic ash and informally ruled by a man from Mars who sells bottled air.
"'She's a domestic,' I said. He laughed his head off. 'That's right, boy: they cook and clean and take out your garbage and you'll find out the rest when you're older.' He started walking away laughing. 'Wait!' I yelled. 'What about the story?'
Protected by the MTA (the Martian Terrestrial Authority, which was created for the purpose), the nuclear bomb was successfully transported. In the meantime, in cooperation with Panzer-Tank Mining, Yariba Corporation dug a deep tunnel into the base of Olympus Mons, the largest volcano in the solar system. It's twenty-seven kilometers high! Five hundred and forty kilometers wide! I'm sure you've noticed it. They put the nuclear bomb inside the tunnel and off it went, clearing the most enormous cavern ever made. They drilled holes through the top. They drilled holes through the sides. They laid pipes. They brought water and boiled it. The steam went through the steam turbines, rose to the very top and fell back down again, going through the water turbines on the way back down to the boiler - a gigantic operation. A simple operation! A Martian child could appreciate its magnificent beauty, and, not having to wonder whence that blessed power comes, can look outside his northern window and see that brilliant topographical majesty that gives him light. Blessed Olympus! How young those Martians are when they first learn to fear her power! Give them light, Olympus! Not tyranny! Not shadow and pain! Give them light!
A literature book narrated by a pair of siblings on either side of the Atlantic whose profoundly weird sexual experiences pose a serious challenge to their traditional understanding of mathematicians, marriage, gay young men and God.
Your presence in your words was comforting, and I confess that, until now, I have suffered from your absence, and I held myself, by all accounts, among the lonelier of men - and all despite my attractive company. But without you, Sister, I am like a cloud without a storm, like a steppe without a fire, like a stable without a horse: I am too open for these times; I am too vulnerable to be sitting in this hospital by myself. Luckily, there's this letter I'm writing; your letter I have too: I keep it in my breast pocket. I have underlined all the best parts, and the parts with which I disagree - but those are of little importance.
– Title 3, Regarding a Dream, Chapter 1, The First Day, Part 1, Victory & Calendar Reform, Section 2, Poetics, Paragraph 4, Clauses 8-12
But there is something different about living day to day, wondering if you'll wake up tomorrow. It's really quite astonishing that Albert was able to function so normally; there was no hint of illness: he seemed completely healthy until the moment he just didn't get up. Maybe I missed something - Indiana's behavior was completely occlusive: there was nothing else on my mind.
– Title 3, Regarding a Dream, Chapter 1, The First Day, Part 1, Victory & Calendar Reform, Section 3, Wondering, Paragraph 4
They would be a dream; they would be a fantastic dream if not for the impending nightmare. But it has given me this opportunity to write to you, my dearest sister, and I know how much you will appreciate that. I also know I owe you something for your own effort: your letter was many things, but above all else, it was necessary.
– Title 3, Regarding a Dream, Chapter 1, The First Day, Part 1, Victory & Calendar Reform, Section 2, Poetics, Paragraph 4, Clauses 4-7
A collection of stories featuring a sexy Parisian ghost, a spooky Moon base full of vagina-faced aliens, a policeman with an Irish name, a truck full of watermelons, a flautist, and a man who has to see another man about a diseased horse.
Indeed, Ferrari's persistence in pursuing the art of horseback riding was born more of innate pride than talent. Witnessing other, more skilled compatriots fall from their steeds, he laughed-not ostentatiously like Francesco, but quietly, as if it proved, not that they wore heavier armor and were therefore richer, but that they might not be as good.
That summer, after reconquering Naples, the combined armies of Her Majesty, Regina Giovanna, His Holiness, Papa Martino, and the ugly Visconti Duke of Milan met the army of the fearsome Braccio between the Hill of San Lorenzo and the long-besieged city of Aquila. The allies were commanded by Braccio's former lieutenant, Jacopo Caldora. They outnumbered the knight three or four to one. Though they seemed to have every advantage, they were losing the fight.
In confinement, he was fed nothing more than bread and water. Told he would get nothing more until he confessed, Ferrari succumbed. He admitted to the robbery, to the broken porcelain, and to the fact that he had seen his stepmother naked-though he neglected to mention his resentment, his feelings of entitlement, and, of course, his continued desire to dispossess his father of his wife.
A real play. With drama in it. Talk fast. It takes two hours. Set in a guest house. In a small community. After a murder. Lots of suspicion. The characters learn to listen to each other. It's funny.
(LESBIAN exits.)
LUKE: Speakin' of leaving, I'd just like to say that it's been a pleasure staying here with you all. As much as I'd like to stay longer - ingestin' your wonderful fish, Kokomo, and imbibin' your wonderful grog, Master Grey Goose, et cet'ra, et cet'ra - as me manager would say, duty calls. Mistress Jackson, Fletch, Grey Goose, Kokomo: it's been real nice. Nevertheless, me and the Mrs. have to be going. I'll leave you the check on me way out - right after I pack me bags.
– ACT II, lines 366-366
KOKOMO: I couldn't agree more.
ALICE: Luke was a real ladies' man before he met me. I practically had to jump into bed with him just to get kissed.
KOKOMO: That sounds awful.
ALICE: I got tired of waiting for him to make a move.
KOKOMO: In the end it did pay off.
ALICE: Sometimes you have to make things crystal clear.
KOKOMO: If only it were that simple.
ALICE: It is. Haven't you ever told Fletch how you feel?
KOKOMO: I like to pretend that I have - but I haven't.
ALICE: Do it. There's no sense in waiting. If you wait too long, you might not be around to say anything. That reminds me: Luke and I are leaving tonight. That letter he got from his manager was definitely bad news for me.
– ACT I, lines 1369-1378
(LESBIAN enters, followed by ALICE and LUKE. KOKOMO exits.)
LESBIAN: What a day! My skin has never felt so tight.
FLETCHER: How has our island paradise been treating you, Lesbian?
LESBIAN: Not bad, Fletcher. I'm covered with salt.
FLETCHER: You happened to go naawe this morning.
LESBIAN: We went naawe this morning, as you like to call it, in Emily Bay.
ALICE: The water was lovely.
LUKE: The beach was bodgy.
ALICE: I think my husband got stung.
LUKE: In the blot.
– ACT I, lines 46-54
(MS. JACKSON enters in a rush.)
MS. JACKSON: Grey Goose? What did he want?
KOKOMO: Nothing. I don't know.
FLETCHER: Calm down, Mother. Please return to whatever it is you were doing.
– ACT I, lines 19-21
MS. JACKSON: What about my heirloom?
GREY GOOSE: What heirloom?
MS. JACKSON: The one you stole.
GREY GOOSE: I didn't steal anything.
MS. JACKSON: Don't lie to me.
GREY GOOSE: I didn't.
LESBIAN: I did. I packed it away in my bag. I have two tickets for tonight's flight: one for me and one for you. Come. We'll explore the world as your ancestors did: the English and the Polynesians. They went from west to east; we'll go from east to west. We'll show the lost and the lovelorn what true devotion means. We'll scale Victory Peak in China. We'll sail the Punjab. We'll get lost in Gargas Cave. We'll bathe in the hot springs beneath Mount Hekla. We'll catch a Broadway show. We'll do some shopping at Shinjuku Station. We'll do anything your heart desires. All you have to do is liberate yourself. Let your passions run free. Someday we'll return to your native land. It won't ever be the same again. Nevermore will you be shamed. Woman, you'll have made the entire world yours.
MS. JACKSON: Nameless Pain! How am I to deny a penitent husband - newly birthed in remorse, in truth, in love, and desirous of similar gifts from me, his lawfully wedded wife, who, for so long, and with so many tears, kept watch over this heretofore seemingly endless and vain gestation - yet relish this sudden appearance of life: this infant curiosity: this foundling whose love demands more than my adoption could ever give? Oh, Homo: a thousand hearts couldn't beat as strongly as you have made mine beat. This is my home. I can no sooner leave it than change my body for that of a man. The world is yours; go out there and take it. Please leave me in peace. I beg you.
LESBIAN: I'll go. Though it pains me more than female circumcision, I'll go. I'll go because I love you.
A story book full of short fiction stories. An interesting bedtime mystery. A fairy tale. Science fiction romance. Adult life. Uninspiring gay fiction. Horror.
The general continued. "Reports of our agents in the Perseus arm confirm the possibility that forces of Scutum-Centaurus are assembling within the shadow of the galactic core. Their presumed intention is to make further raids into the open clusters that border the near end of the bar. Rumors of a so-called hypersphere capable of transporting infinite mass via the brane strings are just that. Rumors. The Orion Star Alliance has concluded that Scutum is not planning further incursions into our territory. Nevertheless the military is on high alert. Dark matter mining will continue to increase. All projects confirmed within the last two galactic arc-seconds will be subject to review and possible suspension. That is all."
When the Nautilus left orbit Orbitz shadowed it in the Argo. When the Nautilus turned off course and headed towards the tesseract the Argo turned too. It wasn't alone. On the opposite side of the Nautilus there was another Argo. It was may have been younger but it had the same shape. The same designation. The same frequency to its identification transmitter. The presence of the two identical ships seemed impossible. It confused the operators of the control station long enough to let all three ships pass into the tesseract. From that point on they couldn't be stopped. They passed through the singularity.
To promote democracy, the strong must empty themselves of their strength. The weak must be granted the opportunity to grow strong. We cannot force the end of patriarchy. To do so simply perpetuates feudalism under a different name.
